Abstract

To regulate the entry and exit of both citizens and foreign nationals, every country has immigration laws. The immigration aspects that apply in a country are closely related to the regulations governing international traffic concerning people outside the country's territory. This research focuses on crucial issues regarding the forms of immigration supervision by the immigration office on the entry of foreign nationals using fake passports in Indonesia and the challenges faced by the Immigration Office of Class I Special TPI Soekarno-Hatta in supervising passport forgery by foreign nationals in Indonesian territory. This study uses a normative legal research method with a descriptive nature, aiming to analyze and describe the related legal conditions. The data used is secondary data analyzed qualitatively, with conclusions drawn through a deductive method, moving from general principles to specific conclusions. The research results show that the forms of immigration supervision by the Immigration Office regarding the entry of foreign nationals using fake passports in Indonesia are carried out through administrative supervision, including the examination of documents or records related to the movement and presence of foreign nationals, as well as field supervision. The challenges faced by the Immigration Office of Class I Special TPI Soekarno-Hatta in monitoring passport forgery by foreign nationals in Indonesia’s territory primarily stem from the vast borders of the Republic of Indonesia, language barriers, a lack of human resources, limited technology and surveillance systems, and increasingly diverse methods employed by foreign nationals entering Indonesia to commit immigration crimes in an attempt to avoid detection by field officers.
